Matrices

Adding and Subtracting

$\begin{bmatrix} 5 & 3& 3\\ -2& 4& 7 \end{bmatrix} + \begin{bmatrix} -4 & 2& 5\\ -1& -2& 4 \end{bmatrix} = \begin{bmatrix} 5+-4 & 3+2& 3+5\\ -2+-1& 4+-2& 7+4 \end{bmatrix} = \begin{bmatrix} 1 & 5& 8\\ -3& 2& 11 \end{bmatrix}$

Two matrices must be of the same dimensions in order for them to be added or subtracted. You cannot add a 2x2 matrix to a 2x3 matrix.
