Rules for Naming Acids
Posted: December 30th, 2010, 9:06 pm1. If the anion does not contain oxygen, the acid is named with the prefix hydro- and the suffix -ic attached to the root name for the element.
ex. HCl → hydrochloric acid
ex. HCl → hydrochloric acid
